Hello! I’m Geoffrey Abdallah, financial analyst turned software engineer.

I’ve always been a man of many interests – I studied classics, philosophy and history of math for my first two years of college at St. John’s College in Santa Fe and ended up graduating with a double major in Political Science and Japanese Studies with a focus on Japanese Political Economy from University of Washington in my last two years of study.

I entered the work place in Financial Planning and Analysis for the restaurant industry – manipulating massive data sets to provide meaningful insights to restaurant operator and the C-Suite. After a year and a half in finance – I found myself coding more and more in excel and with a longing to create my own analytics tools. I began teaching myself JavaScript and computer science fundamentals and quickly realized that programming married my interests in language, problem solving, creativity and logic.

I wound up in San Francisco working in JavaScript twelve to sixteen hours a day, six days a week at Hack Reactor – doing everything from building Single Page Applications to programming a 3D printed drone in node.js. Towards the end of my time at Hack Reactor, I saw TourConnect was hiring in my home state. The team was entrepreneurial, they had a market ready for disruption, Hai was a major open source contributor and design guru, and they wanted a full-stack JavaScript application – I knew I had found exactly what I was looking for. I’m excited about contributing my knowledge of web tech and JavaScript to this awesome team!
